Enlarged prostate gland research shows that both medications, namely alpha-blockers as well as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors are very effective in treating BPH patients with urinary symptoms. Although, there are other herbal remedies available, their efficiency remains to be proven. These include saw palmetto, rye grass pollen extract and beta-sitosterol plant extracts.
